I was glad when they said unto me, Let us go into the house of the LORD.

I remember growing up and traveling with the family. Any time we were away on the Lord's Day, we would take the necessary things so we could have worship services, wherever we were. I've participated in services in multiple states, in Europe, on the lake, in living rooms, in motels and hotels all over the place. I've had some of the most fulfilling and inspiring assemblies at times such as these. It always seems much more intimate, much more personal. My mom and dad always told us that these would be the church services we would remember. As usual, they were right.

A Little Behind

We have had an amazing week. We have not had enough daylight to do everything that we want to get done. I can't even describe how humbling the last two days have been. And I know the pictures that I will post will not do the justice to how these people live. They have nothing and in their current state have no hope of a better life. There is so much that can be done here, so much that you have no idea where to start.
Hopefully we will be back to our house at a decent time tonight and we can catch you guys up on the happenings of this week. I know when we get home we will have about 1,000 more pictures to post, no joke. Thank you for your continued prayers.

Counting the Cost

Leia is enjoying some of her Daddy's ice cream
Yum, Yum!!

Inside of a Catholic church. The center of town is always
where the Catholic church is located.
Outside of a church in Coronado

So, yesterday started with taking a trip into Alajeula to find a charger for my camera batteries. David forgot the charger, and I had to have a camera. We were only on day 3 of our trip. And if you know me very well then you know I love to take pictures; they tell the story. Our house hostess directed us into town, and we would have never gotten out if it hadn't been for her. There were so many people everywhere. We passed so many people laying on the streets homeless. I cannot even find a word to describe what the majority of these people call their homes.

Last night when we were eating downtown we met several locals. An American couple from Denver came to our table and started talking with us. They just moved here from Denver around 2 months ago. She had just had her baby here 3 weeks ago. They love the town of Atenes and say there is so much that can be done here. She said there are people everywhere in need. You can turn in any direction and find someone in great need. We exchanged email addresses and plan on meeting with them again during our stay here.

The days are running together. We left Wednesday night from Arkansas and traveled to Dallas, Texas where our flights were scheduled to leave early Thursday morning. Begin calculating; awake since Wednesday morning at 5:00am for everyone. It is now 3:30am Thursday when we arrive in Dallas. We stopped at an IHOP where we managed to swallow some food with our eyes half open. We were so sleepy that after we finished our food we dozed off in the booth where we were sitting. I am sure the waiter was a little curious as to our state of appearance.
